Since its launch in 2020, MOAA’s weekly Member Spotlight feature has shared the stories of hundreds of members, but so many more stories remain to be told.
That’s where you come in.
Whether you want to highlight the work of fellow MOAA members, honor a volunteer, or recognize a local chapter program, you can send your suggestions (and some high-resolution photos) to editor@moaa.org. While we can’t share every story, we look forward to shining the spotlight on dozens more members in the coming year.
Some highlights from 2025:
- Currently Serving Stories. A Marine Corps reservist made her pro boxing debut, the head of the Army Garrison at the Presidio of Monterey recounted his journey from a small Ohio town to Army leadership roles, and a Marine bobsledder discussed her ride toward the 2026 Olympics.
- Sharing Success. A retired Navy captain’s work to build a Junior ROTC program helped him earn “Exceptional Educator” honors, a retired Army warrant officer became the latest member of the elite Order of the Eagle Rising Society, and a number of MOAA members took part in the successful effort to rename the longest highway in the nation in tribute to Medal of Honor recipients.
- Their Mission Continues. A World War II flight engineer looked back at three decades of service (and still shares his story at a local museum), a retired Air Force colonel and his wife launched a podcast to help others with their transition from service, and a Korean War veteran was named an Ambassador for Peace.
- More Stories. From training service dogs to building shovel-themed benches to a gift of song, MOAA members have engaged in all manner of projects and charitable causes throughout the nation.
