MOAA’s president and CEO shared the organization’s advocacy priorities with the newly appointed associate director for Veterans Affairs during a July 22 meeting at the White House, the latest in an ongoing series of high-level MOAA efforts on behalf of servicemembers, veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors.

Lt. Gen. Brian T. Kelly, USAF (Ret), spoke with Capt. Kathryn Albert, USAF, along with Ryan Scruggs, who serves in the White House Office of Public Liaison. The meeting came at a pivotal time as MOAA continues to advance its 2025 Advocacy in Action (AiA) and broader legislative priorities for the 119th Congress.

“We are thankful for these meetings for a simple reason: They help us make a difference for our members and the wider uniformed services and veteran communities,” said Kelly, who met with VA Secretary Doug Collins in May. “Any chance to share our priorities and our community’s stories, we want to take that opportunity. Whether it’s the White House, on Capitol Hill, or through our grassroots advocates in lawmakers’ local offices, we need to show our presence on all fronts.”

Kelly emphasized MOAA’s central mission — to protect and preserve service-earned benefits. At the heart of these efforts is a focus on honoring our national commitment to those who have served — a critical component of sustaining the future of the all-volunteer force.

In addition to policy priorities, Kelly discussed MOAA’s upcoming TotalForce+ Conference, taking place Oct. 28-29 at National Harbor, Md. As the first and only military people-focused event of its kind, the conference will bring together leaders from across the uniformed services, industry, and government to explore innovative solutions, share best practices, and strengthen collaboration across the military community.
