Alzheimer’s is not a consequence of normal aging. Alzheimer's and other dementias cause changes to memory, thinking, and behavior that interfere with daily living.
Join MOAA for an online event that will begin with the expertise of Alzheimer’s Association Community Educator Katie Greenawalt, who will describe common warning signs of Alzheimer's and what symptoms to look for in yourself and others, as well as tips to approach someone who is experiencing changes in their memory, the benefit of early detection and diagnosis, and more.
Next, we will hear from a panel of participants who discuss the impacts of the disease in different ways:
- Darrell Foss, a veteran who is living with Mild Cognitive Impairment, shares the story of his journey, beginning with the moment he started to notice that something wasn’t quite right.
- Les Burger, a former military physician, is the care partner for his spouse, who has been diagnosed with moderate Alzheimer’s.
- Capt. Paul J. Frost, AFC®, USN (Ret), a financial and benefits adviser at MOAA and accredited Veteran Service Officer (VSO), provides insight into available resources for veterans impacted by the disease.
The Q-and-A session is a chance to get your questions answered from someone who understands where you’ve been or where you are going.
Ignoring worrying signs is not a strategy. In this virtual webinar, you will get the exact information you need to understand the landscape surrounding Alzheimer’s and dementia and map out your game plan.
If Alzheimer’s has touched your life in some way, there is no reason to walk this journey alone. Join MOAA, the Alzheimer’s Association, and our special panel to learn about this challenging disease and arm yourself with the right perspective so you can decide your next steps.
MOAA Premium and Life members have access to all recorded MOAA webinars at any time via MOAA’s Webinar Archive. Want to join MOAA? See MOAA.org/join for details.

Congress mandated 18 rights for tenants in privatized military housing as part of the FY 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), one of a series of comprehensive reform provisions to address pervasive issues with mold, rodents, and other health, safety, and environmental hazards.
Frustrated families testified about the inability to get some of the private companies to fix problems and the lack of assistance from their military leadership on some bases. DoD has prioritized reforms under the Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI), as well as reforms to rebuild tenant trust and help maintain the financial viability of MHPI housing projects, but there are still installations where key parts of the "Tenant Bill of Rights" remain unimplemented.
Are you still waiting? Or do you live off the installation and face difficulties with your landlord, Realtor, or mortgage company? Do you need information about your rights and protections?
Join MOAA as we host a panel of subject-matter experts to help you learn more, get your questions answered from a trusted and reliable source, and ensure you receive quality housing and fair treatment. Along with the NDAA provisions, we’ll discuss the protections provided by the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) of 2002, which cover rental agreements, security deposits, mortgage interest rates, and foreclosures.
