The mission of the San Diego Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) is to provide useful assistance to, and protect the interests of, Service Members and their dependents or survivors. We promote the aims and objectives of the national MOAA organization and actively support the California Council of Chapters (CALMOAA) in efforts to further a legislative agenda appropriate to military members, veterans and their survivors. The chapter also encourages and facilitates camaraderie among its members. (We have fun!)

Membership in the chapter is open to anyone who holds, or has ever held, a commission or warrant in any component of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and their surviving spouses. Membership in the national MOAA organization is not a prerequisite for membership in MOAA San Diego Chapter. Dues are waived for your first year of membership in our chapter. Annual dues for subsequent years are $20, or $50 for three years, $10/$25 for surviving spouses. The chapter also invites spouses of active members to join as Associate Members ($10/$25) with full voting rights. Membership applications may be obtained from the Member Chair, BG Dean J. The San Diego Chapter meets monthly and features a guest speaker on a topic relevant to the local community. The Chapter supports local JROTC and ROTC programs and provides two scholarships each year to ROTC students from the San Diego area. Luncheon meetings are held monthly at Anchors Catering and Conference Center, Naval Base San Diego, 2375 Recreation Way, San Diego 92136--take the Main Street exit off of I-5. (The Conference Center is just outside the entrance to the base so no ID is required.) If you would like to join us for a luncheon meeting you may pay cash or check at the door or send a check payable to San Diego MOAA for $22 per attendee to: MOAA San Diego Chapter, P.O. Box 371075, San Diego, CA 92137-1075. Please let us know if this will be your first luncheon so that we are prepared to meet you at the door and introduce you to our members. November is our Annual Meeting and election of officers, followed by Chapter Officers installation at our annual Holiday Meeting in December.

As indicated above, San Diego Chapter of MOAA luncheons normally meet on the second Wednesday of each month at Anchors Catering and Conference Center, 2375 Recreation Way, San Diego, 92136 beginning at 11:15 AM with the meeting called to order at 11:30. Anchors Catering and Conference Center is located next to, but outside, the main entrance to Naval Base San Diego so no military or government ID is required for entry. Parking is ample and free, and the Conference Center is convenient to I-5. If you are joining us for the first time include a note with your reservation check, or let us know when you check in, or email or call any officer listed above in advance of the luncheon, so that we recognize you as a new member and can introduce you to other members present. Or, just come on in and introduce yourself! Dress is casual. We look forward to seeing you at our next luncheon!

The San Diego Chapter was chartered in 1954 and is proud to hold the distinction of being the first affiliated MOAA chapter in the United States. 2023 marks our 69th year! The chapter is one of seven MOAA chapters located in San Diego County, serving the City of San Diego and the central coastal area of the county. Our monthly luncheon meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month and you are invited to join us even if you are not yet a member of our chapter. Also, it is not necessary to be a member of the national MOAA organization to be a member of the MOAA San Diego Chapter. Instructions on how to sign up for the monthly luncheon are provided in CHAPTER ACTIVITIES on the left. The chapter emails regular announcements regarding activities to members. The chapter currently has about 100 members made up of currently serving, former, and retired officers and their survivors.
