Year-end dates are set for TRICARE, Medicare, and Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance plan (FEDVIP) participants to make changes to their coverage for 2027.

TRICARE
When: Open Season runs Nov. 9 to Dec. 8
Who: Only those eligible for coverage under a TRICARE Prime, TRICARE Select, or US Family Health Plan may participate. Active duty servicemembers must remain on TRICARE Prime. TRICARE Open Season does not apply to TRICARE For Life beneficiaries or those eligible for premium-based plans (TRICARE Reserve Select, TRICARE Retired Reserve, TRICARE Young Adult, Continued Health Care Benefit Program).

- Coverage changes can be made outside of Open Season if a beneficiary experiences a qualifying life event.
- TRICARE’s Plan Comparison Tool allows beneficiaries to look at up to six plans at once.
- TRICARE’s Health Plan Costs page had not been updated to reflect 2027 rates as of Sept. 22, but includes full details on 2026 costs.

Medicare
When: Open Enrollment runs Oct. 15 to Dec. 7.
Who: Open Enrollment options vary based on existing coverage:
- All eligible Medicare users can join, drop, or switch Medicare Advantage Plans (MAPs, or Medicare Part C), or add or drop drug coverage connected to their plan. Those already in a MAP can switch plans or return to Original Medicare (and join a separate drug plan, if desired) during the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period, which runs Jan. 1 to March 31 (Plan changes take effect the first of the month following enrollment.)
- Those covered by Original Medicare can join, drop, or switch Medicare drug plans (Medicare Part D).

FEDVIP
When: The FEDVIP Open Season runs Nov. 9 to Dec. 7.
Who: Those eligible for federal dental and vision programs, which includes most uniformed services retirees (dental and vision), and most active duty family members (vision only).

- BENEFEDS.gov serves as a one-stop resource for Open Season, including plan comparisons and enrollment. Note: A Login.gov account is now required to access the full site, although comparison tools do not require login. Plan details for 2027 were not available on the site as of Sept. 22.
