Military exchange shoppers in nine states will see extra savings this month on back-to-school gear, but deals vary across the nation.
Exchanges in these states will lower prices to reflect state sales tax holidays in place as the school year approaches. Savings will be based on local tax rates and on the materials covered by the holiday. The nine states with tax holidays in August, their dates, and resources for shoppers:

Exchange savings will be equal to the local sales tax rate, according to a July 21 press release. Shoppers in Alabama, New Mexico, and Tennessee scored similar savings in July during tax holidays.
