While it’s true that space-available (Space-A) travel takes you where the military has a mission, you still can use Air Mobility Command flights to visit bucket list-worthy locales.
Here are four top destinations you can reach via Space-A flights.

Paris
No, there aren’t any Space-A flights to France. But did you know that Germany’s Ramstein Air Base is about a four-hour drive (or a 2½-hour high speed train ride) from Paris?
Ramstein is part of the Kaiserslautern Military Community, the largest U.S. military community in Europe, and is the most accessible international base you can reach flying from the continental U.S. (CONUS), with regular flights from installations up and down the East Coast:
- Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI)
- Dover Air Force Base, Del.
- Joint Base Andrews, Md.
- Joint Base Charleston, S.C.
- Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J.

The Amalfi Coast
Have you dreamed of visiting the Isle of Capri and sampling olive oil and limoncello along the Amalfi Coast? The Naval Support Activity Naples passenger terminal is near an international airport and a train station, making it a good jumping-off point to explore Italy (and beyond).
Naval Station Norfolk, Va., is the only CONUS terminal with regular missions to Naples.
Hawaii
Are Hawaii’s warm weather, beautiful beaches, and world-class golf courses calling to you? If so, you might want to catch a Space-A flight to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
Hickam is an extremely busy hub – it's the primary military passenger terminal in Hawaii, and it’s also the gateway to the Pacific, with flights to installations in Japan and Korea, along with Guam and other U.S. territories.
Most CONUS flights to Hickam originate from Travis Air Force Base, Calif., but there are occasionally flights from other bases.
There are plenty of military lodging options near Honolulu. Hickam itself has lodging in five locations, and each of the service branches has additional lodging options on Oahu.

Japan
Would you like to see Japan’s iconic cherry trees in bloom? There are three different terminals you can fly into in Japan: Yokota, about 90 minutes from Tokyo; Misawa in Northern Japan; and Kadena on the island of Okinawa.
Most CONUS flights to Japan originate from Travis Air Force Base or the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Air Mobility Command terminal. There are also regular flights from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, and Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
Yokota has one lodging facility, while Kadena and Misawa each have two. Space-A travelers can use most facilities on bases in Japan including the commissary, exchange, and morale, welfare, and recreation services.
