A frequent MOAA partner received $1 million from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as part of “Boots to Business” (B2B) support, helping servicemembers, spouses, and veterans find success as entrepreneurs.
Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) will use the funds to continue to provide B2B instruction to servicemembers (active, Guard, and Reserve), veterans, and military spouses stationed outside the continental U.S., now offering instruction at 30 installations in seven countries.
The two-day program mirrors training offered to stateside participants. IVMF programs have reached tens of thousands of veterans across the globe.
“The support granted to the IVMF from the SBA, their partners, and other advocates guarantee transitioning servicemembers and their families with access to critical resources as they start or expand their businesses and the continuation of this partnership will engage even more military-connected entrepreneurs to build their visions,” said Kim Street, IVMF B2B program manager.

MOAA and IVMF have partnered on multiple projects, include a spouse employment survey and a study on voter participation among military families. IVMF also contributed to a recent MOAA webinar on certifications and credentials.
