How to Manage the Transition ‘UNs’
Leaving the military means facing the UNknown, the UNexpected, and the UNcertain. Are you ready?
Cmdr. Erin Cardinal, USN (Ret), CPC, serves as MOAA’s Program Director for Transition Services and Family Programs, where she develops and facilitates leadership and transition programming supporting military leaders, spouses, and families navigating career transitions, leadership shifts, and life beyond military service.
Since joining MOAA in 2021, Erin has supported military-connected individuals through workshops, transition events, individual guidance, and leadership development experiences designed to help people better understand their strengths, communicate their value, and move forward with greater clarity and purpose.
Her work includes supporting senior leader and flag/general officer transition initiatives, contributing to service academy career conference programming, and designing learning experiences that address unmet needs within the evolving military transition landscape. She developed and facilitates Dare to Dream: Live the Life You Love! and the The Next 90 series, programs focused on growth, self-awareness, meaningful work, and long-term development beyond traditional transition models.
In addition to facilitating programs nationwide, Erin contributes regularly to MOAA publications and multimedia platforms on topics related to leadership, transition, growth, and meaningful change.
