Maj. Mike Gilbertson, USA, enlisted in the Army Reserves in 1995 with the Adjutant General’s Corps and later commissioned as a reserve military intelligence officer through ROTC. In 2009, he transferred to the regular Army and entered the Judge Advocate General’s Corps.
Prior to active duty, he served as a federal civilian in the U.S. national security community in the Washington, D.C. area. His combat deployments include Iraq and Afghanistan, and he spent three years teaching Law of Armed Conflict and Rule of Law courses to senior military and security leaders from more than 23 countries. His overseas assignments include South Korea, Poland, and Germany, with stateside assignments at the Pentagon; Fort Bragg, N.C.; Fort Meade, Md.; Fort Eustis, Va.; and Naval Station Newport, R.I.
He holds degrees from The Citadel, Valparaiso University School of Law, the National Intelligence University, The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School, and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
