Mission

The purpose of the Lancaster Chapter is to promote the aims of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA); to further the legislative and other objectives of MOAA; to encourage and facilitate camaraderie among retired, active, and former officers of the uniformed services; to support local ROTC and JROTC programs; and provide useful services for, and support the rights and interests of, members and their dependents and survivors.

Information on Joining the Chapter

Membership is open to men and women who are or have been commissioned and warrant officers of the U.S. uniformed services and the Reserve and other components of these services, and widows and widowers of any deceased individuals who, if living, would be eligible for membership.

Chapter Activities

The chapter normally hosts six main social events throughout the year, primarily luncheons or dinners at local country clubs and fine restaurants along with a summer picnic, as well as informal breakfast gatherings in alternate months. Luncheon and dinner meetings feature guest speakers on topics of interest to the membership. The chapter supports four high school JROTC programs in the area with leadership awards and offers instructor cadre selected cadets paid tuition to various St. Francis College STEAM Academy summer programs.  Community outreach efforts include member support for the Lancaster Veteran’s Court and member visits to local schools to speak about military service experience.

Legislative Issues

We actively support the MOAA Pennsylvania Council of Chapters in being a voice for military family and veteran issues with the Pennsylvania legislature. The Chapter supports national legislative efforts through members active participation in MOAA Legislative Advocacy Campaigns.

General Information

Chapter membership is largely focused on the Lancaster County, PA area but also includes portions of Berks, Lebanon, and York counties. Current membership totals 140 officer and surviving spouse members.

About Our Chapter

The chapter is governed by a board of twelve officers and board members elected annually. The chapter maintains a reputation of consistent 4 and 5-Star ratings for MOAA Levels of Excellence including an award-winning newsletter and website.
