Mission

The mission of the Dover Chapter is to support a strong national defense, and to work for the benefit of all members of the uniformed services, their families and survivors.

Information on Joining the Chapter

Membership in the MOAA Dover Chapter is open to any currently serving, retired or former commissioned or warrant officer in any of the eight uniformed services, their spouses and survivors. Membership information can be obtained from the chapter president or membership chair (listed above).  Information is also available at the chapter website, https://dovermoaa.org, or by mail at MOAA Dover DE, Post Office Box 122, Dover, DE 19903.

Chapter Activities

The chapter holds a monthly meeting on the third Thursday of each month, from September through May, at Franco's Italian Restaurant in Dover, featuring a guest who speaks on a topic of interest to the members and the chapter mission.  The chapter supports the Kent County high schools that have JROTC programs by presenting MOAA JROTC Medals and Certificates each May.  The chapter raises funds to provide $1,500 college scholarships to outstanding graduating JROTC cadets. The chapter also supports the ROTC programs at the University of Delaware.  In November, canned goods are collected for the local Food Bank, and, in December, toys are collected during our annual Christmas party for needy children.

Legislative Issues

The chapter has a member on the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs.  The chapter has been very active with state elected officials in efforts to exempt military retired pay from state income tax, and was very active in the recently successful effort to establish a Delaware Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
