Editor’s Note: This article is part of MOAA’s 2026-27 TRICARE Guide, brought to you by MOAA Insurance Plans, administered by Association Member Benefits Advisors (AMBA). A version of the guide appeared in the November 2026 issue of Military Officer magazine.
When it comes to your health care, there is often no single number to call for assistance. Finding the right support depends on the particular issue. Here are resources for a range of health care concerns:
Prescriptions
Express Scripts administers the TRICARE Pharmacy Program. To manage your prescriptions, create an Express Scripts account online. A mobile app is also available.
For customer and technical service, call (877) 363-1303 or visit the administrator’s main website.
Network Providers
TRICARE is managed across three separate regions, and providers vary. Two regions are stateside: East, which is managed by Humana Military, is available at (800) 444-5445; and West, which is managed by TriWest Healthcare Alliance, is available at (888) 874-9378.
The Overseas region, administered by International SOS, is split into three areas: Eurasia-Africa; Latin America and Canada; and the Pacific. They are available, respectively, at +44-20-8762-8384 (overseas) and (877) 678-1207 (stateside); +1-215-942-8393 (overseas) and (877) 451-8659 (stateside); and +65-6339-2676 (overseas) and (877) 678-1208 (stateside). Find out more at TRICARE.mil.
Those with TRICARE For Life can visit any Medicare provider. For assistance, call (800) 633-4227 or visit the Medicare website.
Dental Coverage
United Concordia administers the TRICARE Dental Program for family members of an active duty, National Guard, or Reserve servicemember; and National Guard or Reserve servicemembers who aren’t on active duty or are covered by the Transitional Assistance Management Program. More about this dental coverage is available at TRICARE.mil. Call United Concordia at (844) 653-4061 (stateside or U.S. territory) and (844) 653-4060 (overseas), or check their website for more contact information, including for appointment assistance.
Active duty servicemembers typically get dental care at military dental clinics. Retirees can turn to the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP), which falls under the purview of the Office of Personnel Management.
Survivors whose sponsor died while serving on active duty may qualify for the TRICARE Dental Program’s Survivor Benefit Plan.
Use the TRICARE website to find a dentist by your plan.
Vision Coverage
Active duty servicemembers receive eye exams in order to stay fit for duty. Their family members can use TRICARE for annual routine eye exams no matter the plan.
For National Guard and Reserve servicemembers as well as their family members, coverage varies based on status and plan. Coverage is also plan-dependent for retirees and their family members.
Find out if you’re eligible for the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP) at BENEFEDS.gov or by calling (877) 888-3337.
Medical Questions
The Military Health System’s Nurse Advice Line is open 24/7 via web chat, video chat, or phone. Call (800) 874-2273. Representatives can provide health care advice, assistance in determining appropriate levels of care, assistance in locating a provider or pharmacy, and appointment scheduling. This service is unavailable to those enrolled in the US Family Health Plan or the TRICARE Prime demo.
Crisis Relief
If you are having thoughts of suicide, are experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis, or are under emotional distress, call or text 988 or chat online. While you can do this for yourself, you can also reach out if you are worried about another individual.
The service, which is available 24/7, touts itself as a “universal entry point so that no matter where you live in the United States, you can reach a trained crisis counselor who can help.”
