Hagel: Review Military Health Care

May 30, 2014

In the wake of the VA health care scandal that brought about Secretary Shinseki’s resignation, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel ordered a review of the military health system that will focus on access and quality of care.

The review – due August 29 – will examine care at both military treatment facilities and civilian providers to determine whether current access and quality of care meet the standards established by DoD.

The review will produce recommendations on areas for improvement within the military health system and address any areas that are not meeting access standards.

MOAA looks forward to seeing the results of the review. We’re pleased Secretary Hagel is taking steps to ensure that the more than 9.6 million eligible servicemembers, retirees and family members receive the access to quality health care they’ve earned.
