MOAA members and leaders participated in the National Veterans Day Observance at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va., on Nov. 11, taking part in a wreath-laying ceremony and parade of colors during the event.

MOAA President and CEO Lt. Gen. Brian T. Kelly, USAF (Ret), his wife Garrety, and MOAA Upper Potomac (Md.) Chapter members CW3 Cole Barnhart, USMC (Ret), and Lt. Col. Mike Bowers, USMC (Ret), attended alongside representatives from other military and veteran organizations at the cemetery’s Memorial Amphitheater; speakers included President Joe Biden and VA Secretary Denis McDonough.

The event marked the 70th annual Veterans Day observance at Arlington. President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially renamed the Nov. 11 holiday from Armistice Day to Veterans Day on June 1, 1954.
