MOAA was recently named a finalist for the prestigious Military Community Nonprofit Leadership Award presented by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring Our Heroes Program in recognition of its long-standing commitment to support veteran and military spouse employment and economic opportunity.

Each year, the Hiring Our Heroes Program recognizes the tremendous contributions of those who have gone above and beyond to help our nation’s heroes. Awards are presented to organizations and individuals that have developed and applied best practices for addressing the employment challenges faced by America’s veterans, transitioning servicemembers, and military spouses.

MOAA’s selection was based on its wide array of education and information programs that have reached over 13,500 military community members to date in 2020, as well as its military spouse, military caregiver, and emergency financial grant program recently initiated to address urgent financial needs in the military and veteran community arising out of the current public health crisis.

MOAA recognizes that any person without a job is not happy, healthy, or free. And as an association of 350,000 currently serving, former, and retired military officers, we are committed to doing all we can to foster economic opportunity, health and wellness, educational achievement, and community support for our nation’s 21 million veterans and 5.5 million military caregivers.

The 2020 award recipients will be announced at the 10th Annual Lee Anderson Awards Gala. The event will be held virtually on Nov. 18.
