Servicemembers past and present who plan on hitting the links this fall, or who might need a gift for their favorite golf lover, got some good news last week from Callaway.

The well-known golf brand launched a 15 percent discount for online purchases that's available to those in uniform (active and reserve components) as well as veterans, Dave Neville, the company's senior director for brand and product management, announced on a Callaway podcast.

The deal went live Sept. 12, a Callaway spokesman said. To qualify, customers must validate their military service using TroopID, a verification service that's part of ID.me. Validation via TroopID will allow for a the discount to be applied at checkout; click here for the multiple methods that can be used to confirm service.

Once your service is verified by ID.me, you can use your account to claim similar discounts from other participating businesses, either via their websites or at this discount site.

The announcement came along with the reveal of Callaway's new Mack Daddy 4 Tactical Wedges. A portion of the sales of the new club line will go to Birdies for the Brave, a charity founded in 2004 by Phil Mickelson and his wife, Amy, that's now the home of PGA Tour military outreach and awareness efforts. The amount of the charity contribution wasn't immediately available.

Callaway also will provide the new clubs to two wounded warriors who will receive a special club fitting prior to this weekend's Tour Championship event in Atlanta. More than 130 combat-wounded servicemembers have received a Callaway Warrior club fitting.
