Military veterans can visit the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, N.Y., free of charge on Nov. 7, and they'll be able to address any benefits or VA claims issues as they take in some sports history.

The museum will admit all veterans at no charge provided they have a Form DD-214, a VA identification card, or a New York driver's license with a "Veteran" label, according to a news release. Also, the New York State Division of Veterans Affairs will have staffers on site to assist veterans with any claims or appeals issues regarding their benefits, as well as provide information on service-connected state and federal benefits.

Career military retirees and active duty servicemembers receive year-round free admission to the museum, which also offers discounted tickets for veterans.

The museum will host a series of military-themed events throughout the day Nov. 7, including a special exhibit of military-related baseball artifacts that aren't part of the site's usual display. Get more details here.

Sixty-eight of the 323 Hall of Famers served in some capacity, according to the news release. Many were officers, including Ty Cobb and Christy Mathewson, members of the Hall's introductory class of 1936, who both served as Army instructors during World War I. Cobb and Mathewson, along with iconic baseball executive Branch Rickey (also a Hall of Famer, inducted in 1967), taught soldiers how to survive gas attacks.
