Command Sgt. Maj. Alexander Kupratty enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman on May 17, 1996. He attended Infantry One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Ga., and has since served in every leadership position from Team Leader to Command Sergeant Major.  

His previous assignments include the 1st Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Ga.; Regimental Special Troops Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Ga.; 3rd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning; 75th Ranger Regiment Headquarters, Fort Benning; 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; 2nd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.; 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 11th Airborne Division, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska; 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo., and most recently Headquarters, Department of the Army, G-3/5/7.  

Kupratty deployed multiple times throughout his career, supporting operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, and Freedom’s Sentinel. He is a graduate of the following military courses: Ranger Assessment and Selection Program (RASP) 1; Basic Airborne Course; Ranger School, Jumpmaster School, Pathfinder School, Military Mountaineer Course, SERE Level C, Cold Weather Orientation Course, and each level of noncommissioned officer professional development, including the Joint Special Operations Forces Enlisted Academy.  

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit with one Oak Leaf, Bronze Star Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Meritorious Service Medal with one Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with one Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Expert Infantryman Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, and Mountaineering Badge.  

Kupratty has two children.
