Amelia Island

Amelia Hotel at the Beach, a family-owned, ocean-view hotel, offers military rates starting at $69 a night (regular rates start at $109). Call (877) 263-5428. With beautiful beaches, upscale resorts, championship golf, and the charming village of Fernandina Beach, Amelia Island is the perfect getaway for families, couples, or friends. Nearly 24 hotels and resorts have banded together to offer a “Seaside Salute” with island-wide military discounts galore.   • Hampton Inn Amelia Island at Fernandina Beach, just a block from the beach, has a military rate of just $82 a night (compared to regular rates that start at around $119). Call (904) 321-1111.
  • Hampton Inn & Suites, at the historic harbor, offers a rate of $83 a night for active duty personnel. (The regular price starts at $139.) Call (904) 491-4911.
  • Residence Inn, the newest hotel in town, offers military rates starting at $83 a night, including free breakfast, free WiFi, and a $25 dining/entertainment voucher. Use code GX7. Call (866) 245-6099.
  • Also get discounts of up to 25 percent on attractions, such as Amelia River Cruises (active duty servicemembers only), Fort Clinch State Park (a 19th-century fort), and Key North nature tours by boat.
Houseboats in Key West, Key Largo and Fort Lauderdale

Why stay in a ho-hum hotel when you can spend the night on a houseboat? Check out Rock On Rentals, with overnight two- or three-bedroom accommodations on a houseboat or yacht. Legoland, Orlando

Got kids? Legoland will be a hit, with more than 50 rides, shows, attractions, gardens, and a waterpark. Starting May 23, the park opens an area just for toddlers, with a scenic train ride, mini-tractor, and water play. Active duty servicemembers get free admission — just show your military ID at any ticket window. Family can receive discounts of more than 40 percent by purchasing tickets in advance through participating military base ticket offices. Click here for more information.
