Lt. j.g. Charles P. Rego, USN

Lt. j.g. Charles P. Rego, a native of New York City, enlisted in the Air Force in August 1994 and upon completion of Basic and Technical Training was assigned to the 33rd Fighter Wing, Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., as an F-15 Fighter Aircraft Technician.

 

During his assignment with the 33rd Fighter Wing, Rego deployed in support of Operation Southern Watch and Operation Northern Watch, and for Maple Flag and Red Flag exercises. In December 1996, he was accepted into the MH-60G Flight Engineer Program and was subsequently assigned to the 58th Special Operations Wing at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M.    

 

In June 1999, Rego transferred to the Air Force Reserve. In February 2005, he was selected as a Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. Upon completion of training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Glynco, Ga., he was assigned to Detachment 341, Special Missions Branch, Hurlburt Field, Fla. Throughout his tour, Rego deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Noble Eagle, and supported numerous exercises and missions throughout the U.S. Southern Command and U.S. Central Command areas of responsibility.

 

In November 2009 Rego returned to active duty and was assigned as the Special Agent in Charge, Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Detachment 802 OL-A, Homestead Air Reserve Base (HARB), Fla. He was responsible for all Air Force counterintelligence, counterterrorism, and protective service operations impacting Air Force interests throughout the South Florida region.

 

In October 2015, Rego was commissioned in the Navy Reserve after being selected as a Direct Commission Officer. He is assigned to the Operations Department, NR JIOC SOUTH 0174, U.S. Southern Command, Doral, Fla., where he is the Division Officer for the Targeting Team.

 

In his civilian capacity, Rego owns South Florida Lab Testing and Cambridge Commercial Capital, where he consults wealth management divisions of financial institutions. He is married to the former Jeanette Hoyos of Miami; together, they are the proud parents of Abigail Judit and Ethan George.

 

Rego graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Harvard University with a master’s degree in International Relations. He is also a graduate of the Regional Center for Strategic Studies, Colombian Army War College.

 

His personal decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, National Intelligence Meritorious Unit Citation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Reserve Meritorious Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Air Force Expeditionary Service Citation, and various unit and service awards.
