Lt. Christopher Davis, USPHS

Lt. Christopher Davis is an officer in the United States Public Health Service (USPHS). He has been selected as one of the top achieving nurses in South Carolina and recognized with the prestigious Palmetto Gold Award for Nursing. He serves as a Nurse Practitioner and Diabetic Educator in a rural prison setting. As such, he has taken a leadership role in bettering the care delivered to inmates and improving overall quality measures. 

 

Davis has established himself as an expert in disaster medicine as well as prehospital medicine. He has served with multiple organizations in development of certification examinations. He is a reviewer for multiple medical journals

 

Davis was among the first group of USPHS officers to be selected to attend training with the Air Force Critical Care Air Transport Team. He holds a Masters Degree in Nursing and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in nursing. He is a member of the inaugural class of participants in the Uniformed Services University’s Graduate Certificate program in Global Health and Global Health Engagement.

 

Davis has received multiple awards from the Bureau of Prisons as well as the USPHS. In addition, he has been named a Kentucky Colonel by the Governor of the state of Kentucky and a “Duke” and honorary citizen of Hazard, Ky., for his work with underserved populations there. Davis serves as a mentor in several areas for other USPHS officers. He is on track for a successful career both in and out of government service.
