Raus is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, earning his Army commission in 1998. He holds a master’s degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.

Raus served in numerous command and staff assignments of increasing responsibility, including Assistant Professor, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the AFRICOM Inter-Agency Liaison to USAID. He also served as Brigade Aviation Maintenance Commander, Battalion Executive Officer, and Operations Officer in Iraq and the U.S.

Raus commits his time to volunteer organizations that provide service and support to the military community.
