Mission

The Columbia River Chapter of MOAA is committed to championing the interests of uniformed service members, their families, and survivors. We advocate for a strong national defense and actively support our local community through service, leadership, and outreach.

Information on Joining the Chapter

Membership is open to anyone who holds—or has ever held—a commission or warrant in any branch of the uniformed services: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, or NOAA. Surviving spouses are also welcome.

Curious about joining? Attend one of our events to experience the camaraderie, energy, and purpose that define our chapter.

“I’m already busy—why join a local chapter?”

We understand. But many of us served 20+ years and still feel the call to protect the benefits we earned through sacrifice and service. MOAA empowers you to continue that mission—and reconnect with fellow officers who share your values.

Chapter Activities

We’re an active chapter that meets monthly (excluding July and August) at rotating venues. A typical year’s events include luncheons, guest speakers, and informative presentations.

January: Luncheon

February: Luncheon & Annual Business Meeting

March: Luncheon

April: Luncheon

May: Luncheon

July: Summer Break

August: Summer Break

September: Scholarship BBQ Social Event

October: Luncheon

November: Harvest Luncheon

December: Holiday Scholarship Dinner Event

Legislative Issues

We maintain a robust legislative agenda and actively support MOAA’s national alerts. Our chapter has made direct presentations to our U. S. House Representative and regularly collaborates with local staff from our U.S. Senators’ offices.

Using the MOAA website, members can sign letters or postcards to support current legislative initiatives.

Our Columbia River MOAA Foundation is chartered as a 501 (c) 3 organization and is active with fundraising and donations in two broad areas: Scholarships and Support-the-Troops.

We proudly award scholarships each year to students at Clark College and WSU Vancouver with military connections. Scholarship recipients attend our December Holiday party to share their stories and aspirations.

We make donations to organizations with a military connection in our geographic area. Recipients are selected to support needs of local individuals and groups with a military connection.

About Our Chapter

Chartered in 1973, the Columbia River Chapter serves the greater Southwest Washington region. We’ve earned MOAA’s prestigious Five Star Award for over fifteen consecutive years—recognizing our excellence in leadership, engagement, and service.
