The elimination of the Survivor Benefit Plan-Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (SBP-DIC) offset, commonly known as the “widows tax,” necessitated Congress to mandate the first SBP open season in nearly two decades.

Join Capt. Paul Frost, AFC®, USN (Ret), MOAA’s financial and benefits education/counseling subject-matter expert, for a comprehensive review of the options granted for this open season. The program will include:

  • Review of SBP program rules and options.
  • Understanding the open season opt-out program.
  • Reviewing what the open season means for for retirees who elected not to participate in SBP upon retirement and want to enroll.
  • Computing an estimated enrollment cost.

MOAA Premium and Life members have access to all recorded MOAA webinars at any time via MOAA’s Webinar Archive. Want to join MOAA? See MOAA.org/join for details.
