The Wiregrass Chapter has a longstanding MOAA ambassador relationship with the Warrant Officer Career College at Fort Rucker, Ala., including presenting awards and recruiting new members at graduation ceremonies.

“As warrant officers, we’ve got to keep that profession and the importance of that role as a warrant officer.”

Wiregrass Chapter ambassador CW5 Ron Kaita, USA (Ret), said the main effort is speaking with warrant officer candidates before graduation about the importance of membership.

“MOAA needs their representation to remain relevant in the fight for servicemembers, families, and benefits,” Kaita said.

CW4 Jeff Turner, USA (Ret), who leads recruiting and outreach, said he emphasizes the legislative role MOAA, The Military Coalition, and the U.S. Army Warrant Officers Association play.

“I talk from a legislative angle and how their membership is important,” he said.

In 2025, more than 600 membership cards were completed and mailed, according to Turner.

CW5 Randy Godfrey, USA (Ret), chapter president, said new chief warrant officers often move after training and join local chapters elsewhere.

“We don’t get those new members,” Godfrey said. “We’re doing it on behalf of MOAA.”

At graduation, the chapter presents Distinguished Honor Graduate and Leadership awards.

MOAA and the chapter also collaborate at the Eagle Rising Society Award Ceremony, and the chapter is opening an Eagle Rising Society room at the U.S. Army Warrant Officer Museum in Ozark, Ala.

“As warrant officers, we’ve got to keep that profession and importance of that role,” Kaita said. “Senior leaders trust the warrant officer and their opinions.”
