Mission

The mission of the Seattle Chapter of MOAA is to benefit the members of the uniformed services, their families and survivors and to advocate for a strong national defense while providing needed support to the community and its members. The chapter advocates a strong state veterans affairs programs.

Information on Joining the Chapter

Membership in the Seattle Chapter is open to anyone who holds or has ever held a commission or warrant in any component of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and their surviving spouses.

Chapter Activities

The Seattle Chapter holds 10 meetings a year, featuring guest speakers on topics relevant to members. In August, the meeting is a Picnic for VA patients. In addition, the chapter supports local JROTC and 2 ROTC programs, and the local USO. Currently, the chapter is looking at supporting the Fisher House at the Puget Sound Veterans Hospital.

Legislative Issues

The Seattle Chapter supports the MOAA national legislative agenda. The chapter is active in supporting state council in various state veterans' issues.

General Information

Seattle Chapter meetings are usually dinner meetings held on the fourth Monday beginning at 6:30 PM. At least one of the meetings is a lunch/brunch and as stated above one meeting is a picnic for veterans patients. Locations vary and are announced in the chapter newsletter.

About Our Chapter

SEAMOAA was chartered in 1957 and serves King and Snohomish County of the state. Meetings are held monthly except for the months of July and November. The chapter publishes a monthly newsletter except for July. The chapter currently has 198 members made up of currently serving, former, and retired officers and their survivors.
