Dorothy Budacki, located center between her daughters, (auxiliary member since 2002): Budacki, an inductee in the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame, entered Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) in 1944 and later was president of WAVES National. She remains active in WAVES and other organizations, including the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center and the Ohio Veterans Home.

 

Maj. Patrick Budjenska, USA (member since 2000): As the Army G-1 lead for the Army's Blue to Green interservice transfer program, "Bud" has helped more than 240 officers continue their military service in the Army in the face of separation as part of Air Force and Navy drawdowns.

 

Lt. Col. Edward Kauchick, USA-Ret. (member since 1977): University of Southern Mississippi (USM) alum Kauchick is in USM's ROTC Hall of Fame. Annually, he hosts tailgating events and buys hundreds of tickets for troops at Camp Shelby to attend USM football games. 

 

Lt. Col. Dick Kurth, USMC-Ret. (member since 1986): Kurth works for the City of Newport Beach, Calif., and is part of an initiative to adopt Camp Pendleton's 1st Battalion, 1st Marines. He organizes annual Mess Nights: The community sponsors battalion senior NCOs and officers for a ball, raising money to assist the battalion's Marines and family members.

 

Mack and Lt. Col. Celia Webb, USA-Ret. (member since 1999): The Webbs both served in military intelligence, Mack for nine years and Celia retiring after 21 years. Now, as founders of Pilinut Press Inc. in Warrenton, Va., they publish advanced readers for children and ESL students, written by Mack and sometimes illustrated by Celia.
