8th Air Force (WWII)—I need help appealing an Air Force declination of a Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) award. A friend and B-17 tail gunner flew 30 combat missions between October 1944 and April 1945. The Air Force says it doesn’t award a DFC for the number of missions flown then. Maj. Alex F. Burns, CSA—I am searching for his descendants. He was in the 1st and 3rd Mo. Inf. and Cavalry, Cos. H and N, was captured Nov. 30, 1864, at the Battle of Franklin, Tenn., and was a POW at the Union Johnson’s Island Prison in Sandusky, Ohio, until he was released May 2, 1865. CW2 Charles M. Colver, USA, Fort Riley, Kan. (1970)—I am looking for him. I served under him until March 1970, when he was transferred to Camp Funston of Fort Riley.
