Tip of the Hat

… to members of the Northwest Arkansas Chapter, who hosted and honored nine Korean War veterans May 1 at the Fayetteville Golden Corral. Capt. Cliff Mosier, USA (Ret), organized the gathering to honor and recognize these veterans.

Kudos for taking the time to recognize those who served in the “Forgotten War”!

… to the Mount Vernon (Va.) Chapter, which awarded its first Commander Rex A. Maddox Scholarship to Kevin Ly, a graduate of the Army Junior ROTC unit at Thomas Edison High School in Fairfax County, Va. The scholarship’s namesake is a Mount Vernon Chapter member and past president who served in the Pacific in World War II and in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He also actively supports Honor Flight and World War II memorial events and contributes generously to both the MOAA and Mount Vernon Chapter scholarship funds.

Great job for not only helping a local student pay for his education but also for honoring such an exceptional chapter member!

… to the Aiken (S.C.) Chapter for honoring 12 Junior ROTC cadets during a recognition banquet at Newberry Hall May 3. Award recipients received the MOAA medal and certificate, and their names are engraved on plaques at their respective high schools. More than 100 people — including two family members for each cadet and their military science instructors and MOAA members and their spouses — attended the event. Paul Howell, director of academy nominations for Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), was the featured speaker at the ceremony.

Well done for taking the time to honor these outstanding cadets in such a special way!
