The primary mission of MOAA-Silicon Valley (MOAA-SVC) is to support veterans, active-duty military members, and their families. The organization embraces diversity while leveraging varying skills to meet the needs of all veterans of Santa Clara County, CA.  The chapter is fully committed to transparency and operational excellence while adhering to the Warrior Ethos. We investment in personnel, systems, and processes for continued growth, organizational distinction and community involvement. This is achieved through administrative excellence, innovation, communication and execution while building team cohesion. Our motto is “Never Stop Serving.”

We welcome all men and women who are or have served as active duty, former, retired and National Guard and Reserve commissioned and warrant officers of the U.S. uniformed services. Widows and widowers of any deceased individuals who would, if living, be eligible for regular membership may choose to associate with SVC as Surviving Spouses. Monthly luncheon meetings are held to encourage camaraderie and socializing. These in-person gatherings provide a forum for senior and younger members to network and build friendships. A popular feature is our guest speaker program. We attract active and former military members who provide engaging lectures on a variety of high-interest topics. Civilian leaders also talk about areas of interest to our membership. We also participate in local events focused on community awareness recognizing Veterans Day, Memorial Day and Wreaths Across America activities in the local area. Members support ROTC, Junior ROTC and other youth centered groups.

The chapter stays connected to topics that affect members both at state and federal levels. The officers keep members up to date on actions that have an impact on their lives, such as retirement, transition, disability, benefits, financial, medical, etc. We are very active in supporting programs to combat homeless veterans and those suffering from PTSD and other issues that may lead to suicide.

We have relationships with established organizations such as the Palo Alto VA Medical Center and the VA San Jose Clinic that provide primary care and specialty health services. In addition, they offer treatment for addiction, substance abuse, mental health, post-traumatic stress disorder, suicide prevention, surgery and more. A strong partner is the Santa Clara County Veteran Services Office [VSO] where we team-up to conduct a county “STAND DOWN” event for providing information and services to over 2ooo local veterans.  Our goal is to advocate for the Unhoused, Food Insecurity, ROTC scholarships, Employment & Career Opportunities, Education and Suicide prevention.

We are located in the famous center of innovation, Silicon Valley, California. Its mild climate and quality living are a strong attraction for active military members, retirees and spouses. Headquartered at Moffett field the base host active military organizations such the 129th Rescue Wing of the California Air National Guard and the Army Reserve 63rd Readiness Division.  Our primary board meeting location is in historic Moffett field museum next to hanger 1 former home of the US Navy airship better known as the NAVY Blimp

Moffett Field serves as a main attraction for officers seeking the opportunity for continued service while working at some of the top technology companies in the valley such as Google, Microsoft, AWS, LinkedIn and many more. Including top hardware and software defense contractors (such as Lockheed-Martin, Northrop Grumman and BAE systems and others) that keep our members mindful of cutting-edge developments in the DoD sphere.

Lastly our proximity to world-class universities such as Stanford, San Jose State, Santa Clara, UC Berkeley and several community colleges such as DeAnze, West Valley, San Jose City and Evergreen appeal to members seeking to further their education while continuing or retired from military service.
