The MOAA-Indianhead Chapter an affiliate of the National MOAA organization. The Chapter's mission is to: -- bring together commissioned officers and warrant officers of the seven uniformed services of the United States, including all active, retired, former, reserve and the national guard; and, -- actively support legislative aims and objectives of the Military Officers Association of America at both the national and state level; and, -- support the strength and capability of our armed forces. -- 2019-the most significant challenge is hosting the State Biennial Convention. The State Council approved acceptance of the location, dates and theme for the Convention. The event will be held on: September 27-29, 2019, at the Tagalong Golf and Resort, Birchwood, Wisconsin. The Resort is located north and east of Rice Lake, WI. on State Hwy 48, on Red Cedar Lake, near Birchwood, WI. The theme is a "R&R Retreat" -- rest/relaxation and recruiting/retention.

Chapter Activities

The Wisconsin Council of Chapters has approved the date and venue for the 2019 Biennial Convention. The Indianhead Chapter will host the event September 27-29, 2019, at the Tagalong Resort & Convention Center in Birchwood, WI. The theme is 'R & R Retreat' --Fun & Work! The major activities of the Chapter for 2019 will focus on preparation for the Wisconsin State MOAA Council Biennial Convention. The Chapter has formed a MOAA Convention Committee to plan, organize, finance, print programs/banners, and promote the R&R Retreat. A major aspect of hosting the convention is financial support. We need to promote identification of sponsors to cover lunches, break snacks and drinks, gifts, etc. Sponsors and donations will be advertised in the event program. We need all the help we can get from Chapter members and/or any interested Officer in our area.

Legislative Issues

The Chapter supports the MOAA National legislative agenda. The Chapter is also active with the State MOAA Council in various state veterans' programs and issues. The National MOAA goals for 2019 were published in the January 2019 Military Officers magazine. The goals are a good reference for talking points with legislators. The 2019 MOAA Goals are: 1. Ensure any TRICARE reform sustains access to top-quality care; 2. Prevent disproportional TRICARE fee increases; 3. Sustain military pay comparability with the private sector; 4. Stop erosion of compensation and non-pay quality of life benefits; 5. End financial penalties for military survivors; 6. End concurrent receipt penalties for military retirees; 7. Achieve equity o benefits for Guard and Reserve members with their active duty counterparts; 8. Strengthen DoD-VA collaboration and services to support wounded warriors and an expanding population of women veterans; 9. Ensure timely access to service-earned VA benefits; 10. Protect military and veteran family support programs and policies. We represent all of the military---former, retired, active, reserve, guard, widows,---officers, enlisted and those to join the ranks in the future. NEVER STOP SERVING !
