Mission

Chapter Mission: To promote the purposes and objectives of the Military Officers Association of America. To protect the rights and interests of all members of the uniformed services, their dependents and survivors. To foster fraternal relations among retired, active duty, National guard and Reserve Components and survivors. To support our community and the nation.

About Our Chapter

Welcome to the Greater St. Louis chapter of the Military Officers Association of America Along with a President, 1st. Vice president, 2nd vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, the affairs of the Chapter are supervised and directed by committees including Legal affairs, Legislative, Newsletter***, Personal, (St. Charles and St. Louis areas), Publicity, ROTC awards, Auxiliary liaison and Delegate to the State Council. Greater St. Louis Chapter was chartered in 1960 and has been led by 46 Presidents, all Commissioned Officers and Warrant Officers representing most branches of the uniform services. The Chapter has 269 members. Monthly Luncheons are scheduled from September to May on the third Saturday of the month in various locations around our very large St. Louis area. Board meetings are scheduled on the first Saturday of the month, again in various locations, and are open to all members.

Membership in the Greater St. Louis MOAA Chapter is open to anyone who holds or has ever held a commission or warrant in any component of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and their surviving spouses. The Chapter regular luncheons are scheduled from September through May in various venues in the area, with the annual Membership meeting being the May luncheon. The Chapter will convene in February at one of our favorite spots, 'The Columns', in St. Charles.

Chapter Activities

A variety of topics are addressed by selected speakers at the monthly luncheons, with topics ranging far and wide from current events to the Lewis and Clark Expedition. We St. Louisans like our music too, and the traditional Christmas celebration is well attended. At each luncheon many personal hygiene items are collected to be sent to the Veteran’s Hospital. The Chapter ROTC Awards program encompasses 12 high school and 4 universities, and of course the annual Veteran’s Day Observances. Many of our members serve at the USO, and as a Chapter we support the USO with donations.

Legislative Issues

Legislative Issues are brought to member’s attention both as announcements by the legislative committee and as articles in our monthly Newsletter. An example of one of those articles follows: At one of our meetings, some comments were made about the purpose of The St. Louis Chapter. Reiterating,it is hoped that our purpose is more than just a pleasant luncheon club, where we meet once a month to renew old friendships and socialize, have a good meal and hear an intersting speaker. Of course, those things are valuable, and our board wants to continue and strengthen them. However, we also exist to form one powerful voice that is heard and heeded in the halls of congress and the administration. This year, as a new administration takes over it is critical that we keep our fingers on the pulse of what is going on in Washington -- legislation that is crucial to our Armed Forces, both active duty and retired. WE MUST LET THEM KNOW WHAT WE THINK. Call or write your representatives directly.Specific issues? Health Care, SBP/DIC, VA issues and more. Herman Son,Legislative Officer
