Mission

The mission of the GBRA MOAA Chapter is to benefit uniformed services members, their families and survivors and to advocate for a strong national defense, while providing needed support to the community, future officers and chapter members. 

Information on Joining the Chapter

Membership in the GBRA MOAA Chapter is open to anyone who holds or has ever held a commission or warrant in any component of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and their surviving spouses. Chapter Activities

Help to ensure promises are kept to those who served, currently serve and will serve through legislative advocacy. Gold Bar presentation to the commissioned officers of Louisiana State University and Southern University. Annual awards and scholarships to High School Junior ROTC and University ROTC Cadets. Participation in the Louisiana Council of Chapters. Assist with the Military Order of World Wars (MOWW) annual Massing of the Colors Veterans' Day Observance. Sponsorship of GBRA Military Recruiters in the Kiwanas Golf Tournament. Annual Christmas program in December which donates to the USMC Toys for Tots. Monthly membership and lunch meeting: last Tuesday of the month (January to May; August to November), 1130-1300, Drusilla Restaurant, 3482 Drusilla Lane.

Legislative Issues

The MOAA Chapter supports the MOAA national legislative agenda and we welcome our Congressional Representatives and Senators to speak with the chapter. The chapter is also active in supporting the state council in various state veterans' issues.

About Our Chapter

The Chapter was chartered to serve the Greater Baton Rouge Area (GBRA). Our membership and lunch meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month (January to May; August to November), 1130-1300 at Drusilla Restaurant, 3482 Drusilla Lane. The lunch meeting include a speaker and in 2013 the speakers were Nation of Patriots Regional Commander, Secretary of State, Secretary of Veteran Affairs, OSHA Consultation Manager, Regional Federal Reserve Bank Vice President, an ROTC Cadet, Symphony Orchestra Director and LSU System President. The monthly newsletter is the Red Stick News. The chapter membership consist of currently serving, former and retired officers, their survivors and our auxiliary. The Board of Directors meet monthly and our By-Laws were amended in April 2009.
