Meetings start at 6:30 with a social, the dinner meeting, with a speaker/program begins at 7pm. We were excited to be particpating in Military Appreciation Days, May 28-31, 2012 in Myrtle Beach, SC The Grand Strand Chapter awards scholarships to those High School seniors participating in Jr. ROTC programs, who will be attending college the following fall. To date the Chapter has been able to award the minimum of two scholarships each year. The members volunteer to personally present the ROTC and JR ROTC awards each year at the participating High Schools in the Grand Strand area. We actively participate in the Toys for Tots campaign during the Holiday Season;have sent "Care packages' to the servicemen and women serving in Iraq and took part in the Honor Flight for WWII veterans from the Grand Strand.

Legislative Issues

The Grand Strand MOAA Chapter supports the MOAA national legislative agenda and we invite and encourage our Senators and Congressional Representatives to speak to the members at any of the meetings. The chapter is also active in supporting the state council in various state veterans' issues.

General Information

Our hope and strongest desire is to find that one thing that will inspire everyone to be on-board and involved. There is a huge potential for us to not only create awareness of MOAA but to develop our group as a leader in military affairs in this city and this area. Every member that we have and every potential member has already proven themselves to be a leader by the status they achieved in the military, spouses included, so now is the time to put this leadership on display for the community. We invite all military families to join us at Miliatary Appreciation Days in Myrtle Beach, SC over Memorial Day Weekend, May 28-31, 2013.
