Mission
The mission of the CCMOAA is to benefit the members of the uniformed services, their families and survivors and to advocate for a strong national defense, while providing needed support to the community and its members.
One of our very important missions is fundraising for scholarships for JrROTC cadets, resulting in a total of $4,000 in scholarships in 2010.

About Our Chapter
The Calusa Chapter (CCMOAA), was chartered in 1968 and serves Lee County. We celebrated our 40th Anniversary in 2008. Also, we are a 5-Star Levels of Excellence Award Chapter.
The Chapter publishes a monthly newsletter, THE CALUSA COMMUNICATOR.
The Chapter currently has 84 members made up of currently serving, former, and retired officers and their survivors.

Chapter Activities
The CCMOAA Chapter holds 9 meetings a year featuring guest speakers on topics relevant to the members. A Military Ball is held each December with the Installation of Officers for the upcoming year.
Other Activities include: Pride & Patriotism, supporting the Marine Corps Toys for Tots by providing bikes for needy kids, annual Shrimp Boil fundraiser, annual Fashion Show fundraiser, and donations for our soldiers serving in Iraq.

Legislative Issues
The MOAA Chapter supports the MOAA national legislative agenda, and we annually invite our Congressional Representative and Senators to speak to the chapter. The chapter is also active in supporting the state council in various state veterans' issues. We have an active Legislative Affairs representative who keeps the chapter current on relevant issues in addition to encouraging members to write or email their members of Congress regarding bills that affect veterans.
We also have a Chapter member who is on the Lee County Veterans Affairs Committee, who briefs members on issues at the national and local level based on MOAA legislative updates and from local veteran's organizations, composed of 23 veterans groups. Several of our members are very active with this group frequently serving as officers.
