Col William F. Gavitt, USAF-Ret.

COL Gavitt holds a bachelor's degree in geography from Dartmouth College and a master's degree in economics from South Dakota State University. Commissioned in 1955 through the ROTC program, he served primarily in missile-related billets and was stationed in Germany, Kansas, Vietnam, South Dakota, California, North Dakota, and on the Air Staff. He commanded a missile combat crew and a strategic missile squadron, was chief of missile combat crew training for six Minuteman wings and three Titan II wings, and was deputy commander of a combat support group and deputy commander for maintenance of a strategic missile wing. For seven years he ran an electronics design and assembly company in California and received many local awards for volunteerism and public service. He has served as president of the Riverside Chapter of MOAA and president of the California Council of Chapters. He resides in Riverside, Calif.
