Surviving Spouse Corner: The Value of Membership in MOAA
MOAA membership is valuable for many reasons. The services offered by this strong association help veterans, military retirees, and servicemembers and their families and survivors.

Auxiliary (Surviving Spouse) Liaison Excellence Award
Sept. 10 is the deadline for council and chapter leaders to nominate their affiliate’s auxiliary (surviving spouse) liaison for MOAA’s Auxiliary (Surviving Spouse) Liaison Excellence Award. Nominees should demonstrate superior performance in the areas of recruiting and retention, representation, and leadership.

Central PA Chapter Chartered
National MOAA President Vice Adm. Norbert R. Ryan Jr., USN (Ret), presented a charter to members of the new Central PA Chapter during a cookout June 19 at Sunset Park in State College, Pa. The affiliate, which has 36 members, is based in State College but will serve MOAA members who live throughout central Pennsylvania.

Quarterly Recruiting Awards
As of June 30, MOAA chapter leaders had signed up 1,045 new incentive-qualified chapter members under Chapter Recruiting 2015.

Visit Your Legislators
Congress is in recess during the month of August. Council and chapter leaders are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity by setting up appointments so they can visit with their legislators when they return to their home districts
