From the Poconos to the Finger Lakes, the Northeastern U.S. is full of history and scenic beauty. Here are four country inns that offer discounts for servicemembers.

 

Pocono Mountains
Settlers Inn is a 23-room hotel in the Pennsylvania countryside of the Pocono Mountain Lake Region, near Lake Wallenpaupack and the Lackawaxen River. The restored 1927 Arts & Crafts Lodge offers free access to a nearby fitness center, walking trails, private baths, free Wi-Fi, plush robes, and a variety of other thoughtful amenities. Lambertville House, Lambertville, N.J.

 

 

Delaware Valley
Just 90 minutes from New York, an hour outside Philadelphia, and a short walk from the village of New Hope, Pa., The 26-room, four-diamond LambertvilleHouse in Lambertville, N.J., has played host to presidents from Andrew Johnson and Ulysses S. Grant. Built in 1818, the historic inn was thoroughly renovated in the late 1990s with jetted tubs, gas fireplaces, and two carriage-house rooms. Central Pennsylvania
Berry Patch Bed and Breakfast is a quiet country inn near Hershey, Pa. — just three hours from New York City, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. Each of its six suites has a private bath, mini-fridge, fireplace, and free Wi-Fi. In addition to a full breakfast served every morning, you’re invited to munch on cookies and popcorn all day; tea and coffee also are always freely available. Finger Lakes
Maxwell Creek Inn Bed & Breakfast, overlooking Lake Ontario in central New York, is a historic 1846 cobblestone house on the Seaway Trail, between Rochester and Oswego. Choose from five guestrooms with private baths (full breakfast included). An additional private cobblestone cottage features two suites, each with its own kitchenette and bath (no breakfast included). Regular rates start at $145, but innkeepers Belinda and Pat McElroy (who are parents of two Marine sons) offer a 10-percent discount to active duty servicemembers with ID.
