Big resort hotels are jam-packed with activities and amenities, and budget chain hotels are easy on the wallet. But for an intimate, cozy, one-of-a-kind getaway, nothing beats a small inn or bed-and-breakfast (B&B).

We found these deals, just for military members:

Missouri

Bring your friends and family: When you book one room at the regular price (starting at $99), the second and third rooms at University Avenue Bed & Breakfast in Columbia are 25-percent off to military members and families. Call (573) 499-1920.

Michigan

The 38-room Terrace Innin Bay View offers active duty servicemembers a 15-percent discount on lodging and dining. Veterans get 50-percent off lodging in the month of November. Accommodations range from cozy cottage rooms to suites with kitchenettes. Regular rates start at $79 (including breakfast), depending on season. Call (231) 347-2410.

Pennsylvania

The longer your stay, the better the military discount at Pennsbury Inn, a 1714 colonial country home in the Brandywine Valley, near Amish farmlands. Get 15-percent off a one-night stay or 20-percent off a stay for two or more nights. Are you the impetuous type, who likes last-minute getaways? (Or maybe you’re merely a procrastinator and never got around to booking that vacation.) Either way, you’re in luck. When you make your two-night reservation less than 24 hours before check-in, you’ll get a 25-percent military discount. Regular rates start at $145. Call (610) 388-1435.

Celebrate the candles on your birthday cake: At the elegant Hamanassett Bed & Breakfastin the peaceful countryside of Chester Heights, seniors get a 25-percent discount with a Sunday through Thursday two-night stay. Call (610) 459-3000 and mention BNBFinder Senior Discount. Not valid on holidays.

West Virginia

Nearby covered bridges, hiking trails, wineries, and craft shops are some of the reasons to visit Gillum House, a log house built in 1778 in the town of Shinnston. The B&B offers military members a 15-percent discount all year, except for Nov. 9-11 when rooms are free to military members and veterans. Regular rates start at $115 (so the military rate starts at about $98). Call (304) 592-0177.

Wyoming

With a son in the Marine Corps, innkeeper Keith Sproule has good reason to support U.S. servicemembers. He offers a 20-percent discount off stays at Bentwood Inn, a luxury log lodge located 5 miles from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. “Every stay at Bentwood Inn includes a full, chef-prepared breakfast, evening wine and cheese with hot appetizer, fresh fruit, and home-baked chocolate-chip cookies,” Sproule says. Rooms feature fireplaces, a porch or a balcony, free Wi-Fi, cable, robes, and high-end bath amenities. The offer is valid through April 2016. Call (307) 739-1411.

More B&Bs

We previously told you about inns in the Southern states, in North Carolina, in the Northeast, in Virginia, near lakes, and in the countryside. Most of those offers are ongoing and still valid (and it never hurts to ask for a military discount — many innkeepers gladly will accommodate).

For more B&Bs with military discounts, check out the BnB Finder search engine and its “Military Specials” page for discounts and (occasionally) even free accommodations.
