8 Military Travel Discounts for Can't-Miss Southern Attractions

We found big military discounts on Southern accommodations and attractions.

Tennessee

Every August, the town of Pigeon Forge in the Smoky Mountains honors active duty military members and veterans with discounts at local hotels, attractions (including 40 percent off at Dollywood theme park), museums, theaters, restaurants, and shops. Just stop in at the Pigeon Forge Welcome Center and show your valid ID/proof of service. The city also hosts its annual Veterans Homecoming Parade Saturday, Aug. 18. Call (865) 453-8574 for info.

 

Graceland in Memphis offers active duty and retired U.S. military members an ongoing 10-percent discount. Call (800) 238-2000.

 

Need a place to stay after your Graceland visit? The four-diamond, 450-room Guest House at Graceland resort hotel offers an ongoing 30-percent “Salute to Heroes” discount to active duty and retired military members. Call (800) 238-2000.

South Carolina

 

HarbourView Inn, a 52-room waterfront hotel in Charleston’s historic district, features weekly live music on a private rooftop, local beer and wine sampling, and evening skyline tours hosted by a local historian. Rates start at $379 a night, but active duty military members and veterans get 20-percent discount. Show military ID upon check-in. Call (843) 853-8439.

Mississippi

 

Two Gulf Coast hotels, Margaritaville Resort Biloxi and White House Hotel Biloxi offer a 10-percent discount to active duty and retired military members. The discount also applies to anyone over age 60.

 

The 374-room, 22-story, kid-friendly Margaritaville Resort is famous for its huge entertainment center with arcade games, bowling, a rock-climbing wall, and ropes course.
