MOAA President's Currently Serving Spouse Advisory Council

MOAA Stands for Families Tile

The application period for the 2017-2019 Council is now closed.

MOAA’s Currently Serving Spouse Advisory Council is a diverse group of active duty, National Guard and Reserve component spouses who represent the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, United States Public Health Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Each year MOAA invites a new council class to provide feedback on our programs and policy efforts.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for military spouses who are committed to advocating on behalf of all uniformed service families and who will bring their passion and enthusiasm to MOAA. The Council operates in two-year, staggered terms, so you will join a group of Council mentors who already have experienced a year with MOAA. Scheduling for Council commitments is fairly flexible, but you should expect to commit at least two full work days to MOAA during the school year, along with some virtual trainings that can be completed at your convenience.

Our Council members have served in a wide variety of roles including educators, entrepreneurs, writers, health care professionals, news reporters, lawyers, government employees, congressional staff members, nonprofit representatives, volunteers, and dual military spouses, just to name a few. We welcome all currently serving officer spouses and their diverse experiences. Council members will be expected to participate virtually in training sessions and physically attend meetings with Congressional offices or executive leadership.

Why you should apply
The Council is an opportunity for you to impact uniformed service families around the globe through MOAA’s legislative advocacy. You’ll network with local spouses from different services and participate in MOAA events. You will be trained by MOAA’s award-winning lobbying team on advocacy issues from protecting family programs to gaining tax breaks for military spouse employment expenses and maintaining access to affordable and quality health care. If you love serving military families, you should apply for the Council!
