Chapter Activities

The Mid-Hudson Chapter provides community outreach.  Some of the members have been involved in ROTC/JROTC award programs, such as the Commencement Commissioning Program at Marist College, Poughkeepsie, NY, and a satellite site for the Fordham University, City of NY.  The Chapter also participates in JROTC by presenting awards/certificates at area High Schools around the Mid-Hudson Valley in May and June of each year.

During the holiday season, the Chapter members bring coffee for the Food Pantry at Castle Point Veteran's Hospital. This is per the request of the Veterans at the hospital.  The Chapter also supports other Veteran's organizations to include volunteering to help homeless veterans in assisting to secure housing and employment.

Legislative Issues

The MOAA Mid-Hudson Chapter supports the MOAA National’s Advocacy In Action program. The team has spoken to the local Congressmen that represent the Chapter’s region by educating them on bills which would improve the lives of our veterans and active duty personnel.  One of the those bills, The Pact Act, just recently became law.

The three AIA's being presented for the 2024 NDAA are:

1 - Support the All-Volunteer Force;

2 - Pay Full Housing Costs for Servicemembers;

3 - Restore the TRICARE Pharmacy Network.
