Mission

The mission of the Dover Chapter of MOAA is to support a strong national defense, and to benefit the members of the uniformed U.S. Services, their families and survivors while providing needed support to the community and its members.

Information on Joining the Chapter

Membership in the Dover Chapter of MOAA is open to anyone who currently holds or has ever held a commission or warrant status in any component of the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, or the National Oceanic Administration and their surviving spouses. Chapter Activities

The Dover DE Chapter of MOAA holds 8 meetings a year on the third Saturday of each month (September through the following May) featuring guest speakers on topics relevant to the members and its mission. A special Christmas Party is also held on the second Sunday of each December so as to collect in advance appropriate age related unwrapped children's gifts for the USMC "Toys for Tots Program". The Chapter supports the 4 local high school JROTC Programs in Kent County by annually presenting MOAA JROTC Medals and Certificates each May; year round fund raising efforts also allows for the awarding of $1500 College Scholarships to their select graduating cadets. The Chapter also supports the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army ROTC Programs at the University of Delaware by presenting discussions about MOAA's mission to its cadets and staff, and by annually awarding sets of Second Lieutenant's Bars to their graduating ROTC seniors.

Legislative Issues

The Dover Chapter of MOAA supports MOAA National Legislative efforts, and invites our Congressional Representatives and Senators to speak to the Chapter. The Chapter also has a member sitting on the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs so as to actively support the State Council and other military service organizations in various common state veterans' issues and programs. The Chapter is also currently advocating with our state elected officials in an effort to make military retired pay exempt from State of Delaware Income Tax.

The Dover Chapter of MOAA Dinner Meetings are held on the third Saturday of each month from September through the following May at a local restaurant in Dover; 5 P.M. Social Hour and 6 P.M. Sit-down Dinner. Meeting Announcements can be found in the Chapter's monthly newsletter, and in monthly press releases in the local Kent County newspapers. About Our Chapter

The Dover Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) was chartered in 1969 and serves Kent County Delaware. The Chapter obtained its own 501(c)(19) designation as of September 2006, and Certificate of Incorporation as of May 2010 so as to officially be able to conduct year round fund raising as a tax exempt non-profit service organization. Meetings are held the third Saturday of each month from September through the following May at a local restaurant in Dover DE; 5 P.M. Social Hour and 6 P.M. Sit-down Dinner. The Chapter publishes a monthly newsletter during these months that is available in a hard copy snail mail edition and/or electronically via e-mail. The Chapter has about 85 members of currently serving, former, and retired U.S. Service Officers and their survivors.
