Mission

The mission of our chapter is to benefit the members of our uniformed services, their families and survivors and serve as advocates for a strong national defense while providing needed support to our community and it's members.

Information on Joining the Chapter

Membership is open to all Active Duty, Retired, Reserve, National Guard, and Former Officer and Warrant Officers of all uniformed services plus NOAA and USPHS and their surviving spouses. Our annual dues are $15.00 and membership applications are available at our luncheons or you may contact us at jcperkcol@bellsouth.net.

Chapter Activities

Our Chapter generally conducts 12 meetings a year. All meetings are luncheon meetings except for the July family picnic and the November meeting is the chapter's annual business meeting. We invite speakers to present information on relevant topics. We assist the Nashville Metropolitan Airport Authority in providing a Military Hospitality Room at Nashville International Airport for traveling service members (Active, Reserve, Guard, and Retired) and their families. During the first four months of operation, almost 1000 travelers signed the guest book. Eligible travelers need only to check with the Help desk in the baggage claim area to gain entry. We support 5 JROTC units. The Chapter's Board of Directors meets monthly before the luncheon meeting on the first Thursday of the month.

Legislative Issues

We support the MOAA national legislative agenda and encourage our members to stay in close contact with both state and national senators and representatives to further veterans' issues. Our U. S. and State Representatives have spoken to our Chapter in the last year and both have been invited to return. Two Chapter members serve on the staff of our U.S. Representative. We forward all MOAA legislative updates via email to our members upon receipt and include items in our monthly newsletter.

About Our Chapter

The General Andrew Jackson Chapter was presented its charter on 13 December 2007 by VAdm Ryan at Hermitage, TN; within sight of General and Rachel Jackson’s tombs. We have had a total of 62 members join our Chapter and average about 25 members per luncheon meeting with most being from Davidson and Wilson Counties on the East side of Nashville. Our membership includes retired and former officers and warrant officers and surviving spouses from each of the uniformed services as well as active Guard/Reserve officers. We conduct a luncheon meeting on the first Thursday of each month at 1130 A.M. at McKendree Tower on the South side of The Hermitage. Spouses and guests are always welcome.
